STORY:
YOUR CHARACTER HAS JOURNEYED TO THE LANDS OF
GORMARUNDON TO CHALLENGE AN EVIL KNOWN AS THE
CURSE OF SYRILBOLTUS. LONG AGO, THE GORMARUNDAN
VILLAGE OF SILMARII, INHABITED BY DWARVEN GEM-
CUTTERS OF RENOWN, CAME UNDER ATTACK FROM THE
CREATIONS OF THE TWISTED MAGE, SYRILBOLTUS, WHOSE
TOWER STOOD HIGH ABOVE IN THE ICY HOCHYRON
MOUNTAINS. SYRILBOLTUS NEEDED THE GREAT GEMS
FOUND IN THE VILLAGE TO FURTHER HIS MAGICAL QUEST
FOR POWER. THE DWARVES AND THEIR ALLIES MUSTERED
A SIZEABLE FORCE AND FOUGHT THE MAGICAL ARMIES OF
THE WIZARD UP THE MOUNTAINSIDE, SUSTAINING
HORRIBLE LOSSES. THEY BROKE THROUGH ENEMY LINES,
HOWEVER, AND PENETRATED THE DEFENSES GUARDING THE
TOWER. SYRILBOLTUS WAS THROWN OFF THE MOUNTAIN
BY THE DWARVEN VICTORS AND WAS SEEN NO MORE AFTER
HIS BODY FELL INTO A THICK FOG BANK.
INSIDE THE TOWER WAS FOUND THE MOST HORRIBLE
CREATION PRODUCED BY SYRILBOLTUS, A NEARLY
COMPLETED MAGICAL FORGE OF UNBELIEVABLE POWER.
THE DWARVES PLUGGED THE THING UP, BUT ITS FIRST
CREATION HAD ALREADY PASSED FROM THE TOWER WEEKS
BEFORE. UPON THE DEFEAT OF SYRILBOLTUS IT TOOK
THE FORM OF A MONSTROUS SERIES OF LABRYINTHS
UNDER A SECLUDED FOREST NEAR SILMARII. A VOICE
CAME FROM THESE DUNGEONS, CALLING OUT TO THE
SILMARARIANS, PROCLAIMING ITSELF TO BE THE CURSE
OF SYRILBOLTUS. IT TAUNTED THE VICTORIOUS
DWARVES TO FACE THE HIDEOUS CREATURES THAT
GUARDED ITS MANY LEVELS, AND LURED THEM WITH TALK
OF THE VALUABLE ITEMS IT HAD CREATED TO ADORN
ITSELF. IT SAID IT COULD ONLY BE DESTROYED WHEN
SOMEONE REACHED THE BOTTOM OF ITS DEEPEST LEVEL.
AND UNTIL THAT HAPPENED, SILMARII WOULD KNOW NO
MORE PEACE.
SINCE THAT TIME, SILMARII HAS INDEED BEEN A
MISERABLE PLACE. THE BEST OF THE FIGHTING
DWARVES OF SILMARII VENTURED FORTH TO DEFEAT THE
DUNGEONS AND WERE NEVER HEARD FROM AGAIN. THE
SILMARARIANS ARE UNDER CONSTANT ATTACK FROM THE
CREATIONS THE CURSE SPEWS FORTH INTO THEIR TOWN.
AND NOW YOUR CHARACTER WILL FACE THIS CONTINUING
THREAT. HE IS MORE SKILLED AT ADVENTURING THAN
MOST, BUT IS STILL LACKING IN POWER AND EXPER-
IENCE. THE CURSE OF SYRILBOLTUS WILL BE HIS
GREATEST TEST YET.

INSTRUCTIONS:
WELCOME TO SILMAR, A GAME IN WHICH YOU GUIDE
ADVENTUROUS HEROES THROUGH AN IMPOSING SERIES OF
LABRYINTHS. YOU MUST SEEK BOTH TREASURE AND
IMPROVEMENT OF YOUR CHARACTER TO REACH YOUR
GOAL, THE BOTTOM LEVEL OF THE DUNGEONS OF
SILMAR. TRYING TO STOP YOU WILL BE THE
CREATIONS OF THE DUNGEONS - HIDEOUS CREATURES
OF ALL SORTS. THESE HAVE VARIOUS POWERS, ALL
DESIGNED TO RENDER YOUR CHARACTER DECEASED.
IN SILMAR YOU MANUEVER YOUR CHARACTER AROUND
THE SCREEN, HAVING HIM EXPLORE THE LEVEL OF THE
DUNGEON HE IS CURRENTLY ON. SEARCHING FOR THE
LADDER THAT LEADS DOWN TO THE NEXT PERILOUS
TIER, YOUR CHARACTER PASSES THROUGH ROOMS,
HALLWAYS, AND CAVERNS, MAPPING WHAT HE SEES AS
HE GOES. HE MUST ATTACK OR AVOID THE MONSTERS
WHO COME FORTH FROM THEIR DWELLINGS TO MEET HIM
IN BATTLE. AS YOUR CHARACTER MOVES THROUGH THE
LABRYINTHS HE FINDS TREASURES AND ITEMS OF ALL
KINDS, SOME OF WHICH CAN BE USED TO HIS DIRECT
ADVANTAGE, AND OTHERS THAT MUST SIMPLY BE SOLD
FOR GOLD.
IN THE END MOST OF YOUR CHARACTERS WILL FAIL IN
THEIR QUEST DOWNWARDS. IN TIME, THOUGH, ONE OF
YOUR RANKS MAY PROGRESS IN POWER TO THE POINT OF
BEING ABLE TO CHALLENGE THE TOUGHEST LEVELS OF
THE DUNGEONS - THOSE AT THE VERY BOTTOM, GUARDING
THE WAY TO YOUR ULTIMATE SUCCESS.

TRAP HE HAS JUST TRIPPED
6. BLOOD TALISMAN - NEGATES POISON
7. NERVE AMULET - NEGATES PARALYZATION
8. POSITRON BONE - USE UNKNOWN
